MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams gave good efforts at the Essex County Championships held at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield on Oct. 26.
The girls’ team finished fifth in the girls’ team standings among the 13 scoring teams. The boys’ team finished 11th in the boys’ team standings among the 20 scoring teams.
On the girls’ side, freshman Violet Gordon was 20th in 20:43; senior Jenni Hill was 23rd in 20:54.2; sophomore Darcy Perlman was 30th in 21:16.9; senior Elyssa Nielson was 40th in 21:41.3; and freshman Ellie Rojer was 42nd in 21:54.8 to lead Columbia.
William Schabacker, a junior, finished 18th in 16:42.6 to lead the CHS boys.
