Columbia HS field hockey team earns first win; girls’ soccer moves to 4-3-1

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Hudson Hassler had one goal and two assists and Annie Pasternak had one goal and one assist to lead the Columbia High School varsity field hockey team to its first win of the season, 4-0, over Union on Sept. 27 at Lynn V. Profeta Field/Underhill Sports Complex. Abigail Botcska and Peyton Kemp each had a goal and Sarah Wolf made seven saves for the Cougars, who moved to a 1-4-2 record.

CHS girls’ soccer jolts Mt. St. Dominic

Mimi Joseph, a junior, and freshman Katherine Meyer each had a goal to lead the Columbia High School varsity girls’ soccer team to a 2-0 win over Mount St. Dominic Academy on Sept. 28 in Caldwell in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game. Senior goalie Hannah Williams made six saves for the Cougars, who improved to a 4-3-1 record. In previous action, CHS fell at Caldwell, 4-3, Sept. 26, in a SEC-American Division game. Joseph, senior Michelle Aguero and junior Cecelia Munoz each had a goal.
