Columbia HS football team routs Newark East Side, 60-28

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Sophomore tailback Al-Jay Henderson ran for five touchdowns to power the Columbia High School varsity football team to a 60-28 win over Newark East Side on Oct. 4 at Schools Stadium in Newark.

Henderson scored on runs of 50, 12, 10, 28 and 12 yards.

Senior Trey Harris also ran for touchdowns of 70 yards and 80 yards.

Sophomore Kai Arrington had a 5-yard TD run and sophomore Michael Caines return a fumble 20 yards for a score for the Cougars, who improved to a 2-4 record. Newark East Side fell to 1-3.

Columbia will host Bayonne on Oct. 12. Bayonne (3-2) will host Kearny on Oct. 5.
