Columbia HS football team to host Morristown and former head coach John Power

MAPLEWOOD/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Columbia High School varsity football team will face its former head coach, John Power, when the Cougars host Morristown this Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. at Lynn V. Profeta Field/Underhill Field Complex.

Power stepped down as the Cougars head coach to become the Morristown head coach this past spring.

Power was the coach for the Cougars in the past two seasons. After the Cougars went 1-9 in his first year in 2014, Power led the team to the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 5 playoffs last season. The Cougars lost to Westfield in the first round to finish with a 5-5 record.

This season, the Cougars are guided by head coach Gary Mobley. CHS lost to West Orange, 36-7, last Friday night in West Orange to move to a 1-2 record.
Morristown is 0-3.
