Columbia HS girls basketball team prevails over Newark Academy

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Ashley Phillip scored 18 points and Gia Gillens had 10 points to lead the Columbia High School girls varsity basketball team to a 47-42 victory at Newark Academy, Feb. 14  in Livingston.

Kaijhe Hall had six points; Courtney Provilon-Louis had five points; and Kyla Benson had four points for the Cougars, who won for the third time in four games and the fourth time in the past six games to improve to an 8-11 overall record.

Columbia, seeded 14th, will visit No. 3 seed Westfield in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 state tournament Feb. 25
