MAPLEWOOD, NJ – After losing its first four games, the Columbia High School girls’ varsity basketball team posted its first win of the season.
Senior Kayla Anderson scored 13 points, and senior Hernan Angerville and sophomore Maiai Little each had nine points to lead the Cougars to a 54-26 win over host Orange on Jan. 9.
Junior Sage Cleghorn had five points and seniors Briaille Carthens and Celine Egeonu, junior Vida Poynor, and freshman Courtney Provillon Louis each had four points.
The Cougars then fell to Newark Arts, 33-25, at CHS on Jan. 11 to move to a 1-5 record.
Columbia was scheduled to visit Newark Shabazz on Jan. 16.
