Columbia HS girls’ basketball teams earns victories

MAPLEWOOD – The Columbia High School girls’ varsity basketball team won back-to-back games for its first victories of the season.
Dominique Rayam scored 15 points and Jasmine Keegan had six points in a 39-34 win over West Essex on Jan. 7 at South Orange Middle School.

Courtney Miller and Ashley Phillip each had five points; Shadekay Haughton had four and Kayla Anderson and Melissa Etienne each had two for the Cougars. CHS then improved to a 2-6 record with a 41-26 home win over University on Saturday, Jan. 9, as Rayam had 18 points; Keegan had eight; Anderson had six; and Miller had five.

In previous play, Rayam scored nine points in the 54-23 loss to undefeated East Orange Campus on Jan. 5 in East Orange.
