Columbia HS girls’ indoor track and field team finishes fifth at Essex County Relays

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School girls’ indoor track and field team finished in fifth place with 18 points at the Essex County Relays Championships on Jan. 2 at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.

Juniors Sadie Tuohy and Angel Ezeokoli, and sophomores Kirah Tianga, and Kate Beemer took second in the 4×800-meter relay in 10:23.95.

Tuohy joined sophomores Ruth Pastuer, Sabrina McCrear, and Gabrielle Redfern to finish third in the sprint medley relay in 4:22.69.

The distance medley relay team of sophomore Darcy Perlman, Tianga, Ezeokoli, and junior Juli Rufolo took fifth in 13:54.50.

Pastuer, junior Madison Davis, Redfern, and sophomore Sunshine Kern took sixth in the 4×200 in 1:53.10.

Tuohy, McCrear, Redfern, and Kern took sixth in the 4×400 in 4:26.45.

West Orange won the girls’ team title with 70 points among the 27 schools.

The CHS boys’ team finished 13th in the boys’ team standings. Sophomore Owen McGuffery, freshman Walter Rae, junior Terrell Williams and freshman Mike D’Eletto took fourth in the shuttle hurdle relay in 35.93.

St. Benedict’s Prep won the boys’ team title.
