Columbia HS girls’ soccer team falls to Mount St. Dominic in ECT quarterfinals in penalty-kick shootout

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The fourth-seeded Columbia High School girls’ varsity soccer team lost a heartbreaker decision in penalty kicks against 12th-seeded Mount St. Dominic Academy in the quarterfinals of the Essex County Tournament on Friday, Oct 21, at Lynn V. Profeta Field/Underhill Sports Complex.

The game was 0-0 through regulation and overtime, forcing a penalty-kick shootout in which Mount St. Dominic prevailed, 4-3.

The outcome is regarded as a tie, moving Columbia’s record to 8-4-2. Mount St. Dominic moved to 6-8-3.

Columbia defeated Mount St. Dominic, 1-0, on Oct. 6 in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game.
