Columbia HS girls’ soccer team wins SEC-Liberty Division championship

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School girls’ varsity soccer team, under head coach Ashley Corino, clinched the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division championship this season.

The Lady Cougars played West Essex to a scoreless tie on Oct. 26 in North Caldwell in a divisional game to move to an 8-5-3 overall record and 4-0-1 in the division.

The Cougars defeated Verona, West Orange, Mount St. Dominic,  and Bloomfield in the division, in addition to tying West Essex.

CHS will gear up for the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 tournament. The Cougars, seeded 10th, will play at seventh-seeded Newark East Side in the first round on Nov. 1.

The winner will face the winner of No. 15 seed Union and No. 2 seed Watchung Hills in the quarterfinals on Nov. 4.
