MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Columbia High School girls volleyball team won five straight matches to improve to 8-1 through Monday, Sept. 30.
The Cougars won at Caldwell, 25-17, 25-16, on Monday, Sept. 23. Senior Sinikka Reynolds-Vickberg had 11 kills. Senior Lucy Hummel had 12 assists. Senior Corynna Manjos had two blocks and two digs.
CHS defeated West Orange, 26-24, 27-25, at home on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Reynolds-Vickberg had 13 kills and three digs. Senior Libby Kosik had 14 digs. Hummel had 14 assists. Junior Jordan Magid had four kills and two digs. Senior Maddy Casto had three kills.
Hummel had 19 assists and four digs, and Manjos had eight kills and six digs in the 25-18, 25-8 home win over Montclair on Thursday, Sept. 26. Senior Frannie Behaylo had four kills. Kosik had nine digs and two assists. Junior Dani Ehrlich had three digs. Casto had three kills and three blocks.
Columbia won at Barringer in three sets, 22-25, 25-10, 25-11 on Friday, Sept. 27, in Newark. Reynolds-Vickberg posted 16 kills. Hummel collected 29 assists. Manjos had six kills. Magid, Castro and Behaylo each had four kills.
CHS defeated Nutley, 19-25, 25-20, 25-11, on Monday, Sept. 30, at Nutley. Manjos had 12 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Behaylo registered eight kills and four digs. Kosik collected 15 digs and senior Ava Lee had 10 digs. Hummel recorded 26 assists and seven digs.
The Cougars were scheduled to host Caldwell on Tuesday, Oct. 1, after press time. They will host West Essex on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m., and visit West Orange on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5:30 p.m.
