MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The fifth-seeded Columbia High School varsity softball team defeated No. 12 seed Montclair, 13-3, in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on May 5. The Cougars, who moved to a 9-5 record, will visit No. 4 seed Verona in the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 12, at 9 a.m.
Hudson Hassler had two hits and three RBI, and Alexa Stephan and Jordan Stephan each had three hits and an RBI in the 9-5 win over Bloomfield on May 3. Lucy Gagne had two hits and two RBI and Ally Krause had two hits and an RBI.
