MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Alexa Stephan went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two RBI and Hudson Hassler went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run as the Columbia High School varsity softball team defeated Newark East Side, 10-0, April 9, in its season opener at Meadowland Park.
Sophie Goldman walked three times and scored three runs; and Paige Carlson, Claire Salinardo and Clementine Sherman each drove in a run. Jordan Stephan struck out six over three hitless innings for the win and Catherine John pitched two innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts.
