Columbia HS track and field athletes give good Group 4 State meet efforts

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Columbia High School track and field athletes gave good efforts at the NJSIAA Group 4 State Championships held at Franklin HS, June 1-2.

On the girls’ side, Ayanna Henry placed third in the high jump at 36 feet-9 ½ inches and took seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.96.

Shayla Keegan finished fifth in the discus at 112-10 and 11th in the shot put at 36-5.

The 4×100-meter relay team took fourth in 48.09.

Brianna Reckling finished 14th in both the 200-meter dash in 25.46 and the 400-meter dash in 58.05.

Catherine Jordan was 17th in the 800-meter run in 2:21.81 and finished 20th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.66. Megan Mosteiro was eighth in the pole vault at 10-6.

On the boys’ side, Callum Howald was fifth in the pole vault at 13-6; the 4×400-meter relay took 17th in 3:25.16 and the 4×800 relay was 19th in 8:20.48.

The Group 4 State meet consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the sectional meets.

Henry (100 hurdles, triple jump), the girls’ 4×100 relay, Howald (pole vault), Keegan (discus), and Mosteiro (pole vault) have qualified for the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions this Saturday, June 9, at Northern Burlington County Regional HS in Columbus.
