Columbia HS wrestler Galileo Hetherington gives good effort in Atlantic City

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Columbia High School wrestler Galileo Hetherington gave a good effort at the NJSIAA state finals held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Hetherington, seeded 23rd in a field of 32 in the 285-pound heavyweight class, lost in the preliminary round against No. 10 seed Bryce Dunn of Cumberland Regional by pin in 1:56.

Hetherington returned the next day and was placed in the wrestleback bracket, looking to earn a medal. However, he lost to No. 26 seed Marcus Estevez of Franklin by pin in 4:17 to become eliminated.
The NJSIAA state tournament consisted of the top four finishers in each weight class from the eight region tournaments. Hetherington finished third at Region 4 in Union.

Hetherington is the first CHS wrestler to compete at the state tournament since Rodney Cenat, another 285-pound heavyweight, in 2013. Cenat reached the state quarterfinals that year.
