Jules Heningburg leads Rutgers Univ. men’s lacrosse team

Rutgers University men’s lacrosse attackman Jules Heningburg, a senior captain from Maplewood, is enjoying a fine season.

Heningburg leads Rutgers in both goals with 29 and assists with 22 through 10 games. Rutgers had a 7-3 record through April 1.

For the second time this season, Heningburg was named to the USILA Team of the Week, announced March 20. The Maplewood native had 10 points (seven goals, three assists) and four ground balls in wins at No. 16 Lehigh and versus No. 12 Syracuse. He was previously named to the USILA Team of the Week after the season opener, when he had six points in an 11-7 win over Robert Morris, which is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation.

Heningburg also was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, March 20. He had game-winning goals in the wins over Lehigh and Syracuse, with the final tally in an 8-7 win over Lehigh, then scoring six times to push RU past Syracuse 14-10.

The Tewaaraton Award Watch List member has also been named Player of the Week by US Lacrosse Magazine and the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.

Heningburg had three goals and one assist to lead No. 11-ranked Rutgers past Delaware, 15-10, Saturday, March 24.

As a junior team captain last spring, Heningburg was named Honorable Mention All-American by USILA  He started all 14 games at attack and. scored 20 goals with 26 assists for 46 points. The Seton Hall Prep graduate also collected 20 ground balls.
