Nutley/Columbia ice hockey team enjoys strong 5-1-2 start to season

NUTLEY, NJ — The Nutley/Columbia High School ice hockey team has enjoyed a 3-1-2 start to the season through Dec. 26.

After losing to Governor Livingston, 4-2, Nov. 30 in the season opener, Nutley/Columbia defeated Verona/Glen Ridge, 2-0, Dec. 4, and Bayonne, 11-0, Dec. 6, before tying Millburn, 2-2, Dec. 9.

Nutley/Columbia then defeated Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 2-0, Dec. 13, and tied Whippany Park, 2-2, Dec. 18. The team handed Verona/Glen Ridge its first loss of the season.

Nutley/Columbia defeated Parsippany, 4-0, Dec. 21, and Pascack Valley, 6-3, Dec. 26, in the Essex County Holiday Tournament at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. The team will face Mendham Dec. 27 at 9:30 a.m. in its final game in the tournament.
