SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The Our Lady of Sorrows cross-country team gave good efforts at the First Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cross-Country meet held at Central Park in Morris Plains.
With only four runners, OLS could not be considered a threat for the team championship, but the four made quite an impact, placing in the top 10 in every race they entered. Their efforts placed them near the middle of the pack out of 13 schools.
Christopher Schmidt solidified his place among the best third and fourth grade runners in the group with a fifth-place finish in a tight race. There were fewer than five seconds separating fifth to 10th places and there was no great break after 10th place. Alfonso Dunmeyer, the sole OLS runner in the Fifth and Sixth race for boys, scored a solid ninth place. He seems to get better each week.
Maudie Grace Lomuscio took a solid fifth in the Fifth and Sixth Grace race for girls while Isabel Sabnekar finished 10th. Maudie Grace has been consistently running between fifth and seventh this year while Isabel strains the eyes of the spectators who do not know if she will be in the top five or the top 15!
Anouk Lomuscio and Griffith McShane did a nice job in the Fun Run.
