Brothers Shayne and Cody Simon, St. Peter’s Prep gear up for football title game at MetLife

WEST ORANGE, NJ – Shayne and Cody Simon, brothers who reside in West Orange, will lead the second-seeded St. Peter’s Prep of Jersey City varsity football team in the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 4 state playoff championship game against top-seeded Bergen Catholic on Friday, Dec. 2, at MetLife Stadium at 8 p.m.

Shayne Simon is regarded as one of the top players in the nation. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker/safety was named a U.S. Army All-American. A four-star prospect ranked No. 131 overall in the nation and the No. 7-ranked outside linebacker by 247sports.com in the Class of 2018, Shayne Simon has committed to the University of Notre Dame.

Cody Simon is a 6-foot, 190-pound sophomore running back/middle linebacker.

St. Peter’s Prep, located in Jersey City, is 9-2 this season, looking to avenge the 41-14 loss to Bergen Catholic on Oct. 14 in Oradell. Since that loss, the Mauraders have won five straight. St. Peter’s Prep defeated seventh-seeded Don Bosco Prep, 41-18, in the quarterfinals and sixth-seeded Paramus Catholic 41-19, in the semifinals.

In 11 games, Shayne Simon has 53 tackles, including 14 for loss, and two sacks this season.

Bergen Catholic also is 9-2.
