WEST ORANGE, NJ (updated Saturday Oct. 15, 9:43 a.m.) – Junior slotback C.J. Wilson rushed for a whopping 207 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries and senior slotback Michael Osuji had a pair of touchdown runs to lead the West Orange High School varsity football team to an emphatic 47-14 win over Barringer in front of a Homecoming Crowd on Friday night, Oct. 14, at WOHS Joe Suriano Stadium.
The Mountaineers won their second straight game to improve to a 3-3 record. They have won three of their last four games after an 0-2 start.
Osuji, who finished with 78 rushing yards on 12 carries, scored on runs of four yards and one yard in the first quarter for a 12-0 lead. Wilson had a 14-yard touchdown run and senior Ryan Carraha kicked the first of five extra points for a 19-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, senior tight end C.J. Onyechi, who committed to Rutgers University as a linebacker, ran for a seven-yard touchdown, followed by Wilson’s touchdown runs of 28 yards and nine yards. Carraha booted the three extra points as the Mountaineers built a 40-6 halftime lead.
Wilson had a 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Barringer lost its fourth straight game to fall to 2-4.
Next game: The Mountaineers visit Montclair on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. Montclair defeated Morristown, 47-6, Oct. 15, at Morristown for its second straight win to improve to 4-1.
