Defending champ Seton Hall Prep lacrosse team is No. 1 seed in ECT

WEST ORANGE – The three-time defending champion Seton Hall Prep varsity lacrosse team is the No. 1 seed in the Essex County Tournament. The Pirates were to host either No. 9 Columbia or No. 8 Livingston in the quarterfinals May 3.

The Pirates lost to Summit, the No. 2-ranked team in the state, 5-3, April 27, in Summit. Griffin Westlin had two goals and one assist; Brian Tevlin had one goal and Sean Leahey added two assists.

Jack Sarson made 13 saves for SHP.

Westlin had four goals and two assists; Brian Tevlin had two goals and two assists and Liam McCabe had two goals and one assist in the 14-2 win at Livingston on April 29. Leahey, Cole Kirst and Sarson each had one goal and one assist; Jack Rutter, Andrew Perez and Collin Leigh each had one goal and Robert Cannon had one assist. Cameron Fiore made five saves and Cole Kirst made one save for the Pirates.

Jack Gorelick scored three goals with one assist and Tevlin also had three goals in the 15-9 win over Hingham (Mass.) in the Kyle Kirst Classic in Summit on Saturday, April 30. Rutter had two goals one assist; Westlin had one goal and three assists;Leahey had one goal and two assists; and Thomas Colucci, McCabe, Roy Schlageter and Dan Zarillo each had one goal for the Pirates, who moved to an 8-4 record.
