WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Golda Och Academy boys and girls cross-country teams enjoyed an impressive day at the Super Essex Conference–Colonial Division Championships on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
In the boys varsity race, Jesse Schiffman was the first GOA finisher at 20:01.1, taking sixth place out of 37 finishers. Daniel Schiffman was seventh in 20:37.1. Alex Lefkowitz was 10th in 21:54.1. The top 10 finishers received medals.
The boys scored 42 points and finished second behind Science Park, which had 36 points. West Caldwell Tech had 59 points and University had 79. These four were the only schools that scored in the division race.
GOA’s Talia Silbermann won the girls Colonial Division race in 27:49.1. She became the first cross-country runner in school history to become a conference division champion. Amanda Brody took eighth place and Sophie Fischer took ninth place for GOA.
