MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Maplewood native Jules Heningburg, a senior captain on the Rutgers University men’s lacrosse team, was selected in the first round, seventh overall, by the Florida Launch in the Major League Lacrosse draft on April 19.
Heningburg, a Seton Hall Prep graduate, became the first ever Rutgers first round pick. Heningburg equaled Keith Cromwell, who was selected in the second round, seventh overall in 2001 by Bridgeport, for highest ever drafted player out of Rutgers.
Heningburg leads the team with 32 goals, 29 assists and 61 points this season through April 16, also pacing the Big Ten in assists and points and is second in goals. The 2017 All-American is on National Player of the Year Watch Lists by the USILA and Tewaaraton Award committees, and is just the second RU player since 2001 to reach 60 points.
Rutgers (8-4) is ranked No. 10 in the nation.
