WEST ORANGE, NJ — Corbin Raston, a sophomore, won both the girls 100-meter dash (12.01 seconds) and 200-meter dash (24.49) to lead the West Orange High School track and field teams at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 state championships at Livingston High School field on Friday and Saturday, May 31-June 1.
On the girls side for WOHS, the 4×400-meter relay team took second place in 4 minutes, 01.86.
Tayla Wilson, a junior, took third place in the 400-meter dash in 59.73.
Chase Jones, a freshman, took fifth place in the triple jump at 35 feet, 10 ½ inches. Alicia Brown, a junior, took fifth in the pole vault at 9 feet. Ava Neretic, a sophomore, took fifth place in the 3,200-meter run in 11:36.88 and she took sixth place in the 1,600-meter run in 5:26.99. The 4×800 relay took fifth place in 10:18.17.
On the boys side, the 4×100 relay took second place in 42.66.
Adonis White, a senior, took second place in the long jump at 22-6 ¼ and he took third place in the 100-meter dash in 10.94.
Raza Stanley, a senior, took second place in the triple jump at 44-1 ½. The 4×400 took third place in 8:13.72. The 4×800 relay took third place in 8:13.72. In the 800-meter run, junior Andres Acosta took third place in 1:54.39 and junior Cooper Harwood took sixth place in 1:58.11. Clavens Pierre, a freshman, took fifth place in the javelin at 140-11.
The top-six finishers in each event at the sectional meets qualified for the Group 4 state championships at Franklin High School in Somerset on Friday and Saturday, June 7-8.
