Seton Hall Prep and West Orange HS indoor track and field teams give good efforts at Essex County Relays

WEST ORANGE – The Seton Hall Prep indoor track and field team finished tied for sixth with Columbia High School and the West Orange High School boys’ and girls’ teams each finished ninth in their respective boys’ and girls’ team standings at the Essex County Relays on Sunday, Jan. 3, at the Jersey City Armory.

St. Benedict’s won the boys’ team title among the 15 scoring teams, while Columbia won the girls’ team title for the 13th straight year among the 18 scoring teams.

For the WOHS girls, Bukola Akinsola, Maxine Nzegwu, Kayla Robe and Angeline Fields took fourth place in the sprint medley relay in 4:38.33, while Tyra Brooks leaped 4 feet, 8 inches and Sarah Soy leaped 4-6 to combine for a third-place finish in the team high jump.

For the WOHS boys, Joseph Onubogu, Clyde Williams, Liam Cunningham and Ebizie Anuamadi took fourth in the distance medley relay in 11:07.44, while Timothy Vancauwenberge (6 feet) and Daniel Pierre (5-6) combine for a fourth-place finish in the team high jump.

SHP took third in the 4×400 and fourth in the 4×200.
