Seton Hall Prep baseball team defeats St. Joseph of Montvale to win state North Jersey Non-Public A title; will face St. Augustine in Non-Public A state championship on June 11

WEST ORANGE – The second-seeded Seton Hall Prep defeated fourth-seeded St. Joseph of Montvale, 6-2, in the championship of the state North Jersey Non-Public A tournament at Ramapo College in Mahwah on June 7.

The Pirates, under head coach Mike Sheppard Jr., won their 13th North Jersey Non-Public A tournament title.

Jack Zyska went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run and two stolen bases; Ryan Toohers went 2-for-3 with an RBI; Justin Miller went 1-for-3 with two RBI; Patrick O’Hare hit a solo homer and John Savino had an RBI for the Pirates, who improved to a 27-3 record.

Toohers pitched a complete-game five-hitter with five strikeouts.

SHP will face St. Augustine Prep in the state Non-Public A championship game at Toms River North on Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m.
