Seton Hall Prep basketball team improves to 13-0

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep varsity basketball team won three games last week to raise its record to 13-0.

The Pirates traveled to Maplewood to take on Columbia and won, 60-52, Jan. 16. Junior guard Ashton Miller scored 17 points and had five rebounds and seven assists; sophomore guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim scored 15 points and had five rebounds and three blocked shots;  senior forward Alex Imegwu scored nine points and pulled down six rebounds; and junior guard Geordan Walker also scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds.

On Thursday, Jan. 18, the Pirates hosted Immaculate Conception of Montclair and won a very exciting game, 67-65, when Miller scored on a layup-and-one with :01.3 left in the game. He finished with 24 points and four steals. Abdur-Rahim had 16 points and 10 rebounds; Imegwu had 15 points, and Walker had nine points and six rebounds.

On Saturday, Jan. 20, the Pirates hosted St. Joseph’s HS from Metuchen and defeated them, 75-63. Miller was the high scorer with 24 points and had five assists; Imegwu had 22 points and 10 rebounds; and Abdur-Rahim had 19 points and six rebounds.

Senior guard Jesse Reid III had a great week, dishing out 16 assists in the three games.

SHP will be traveling to Newark this week playing West Side on Tuesday, Jan. 23, and Barringer on Thursday, Jan. 25.
