Seton Hall Prep basketball team improves to 13-1

WEST ORANGE – The Seton Hall Prep varsity basketball team had two games scheduled this past week, but because of the blizzard, the game against Teaneck was postponed and no makeup date has been set yet.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, the Pirates hosted Newark Tech and defeated them, 79-49, to raise their record to 13-1 on the season.

Senior guard TJ Gibbs led the scoring with 18 points and had five assists for the Pirates. Junior guard Austin Williams had 12 points and five rebounds; junior forward Treyvon Bennett had eight points, four rebounds and three steals; and sophomore guard Will Yarbrough had seven points.

Through 14 games this season, Gibbs leads the team with 19.6 points per game and 2.9 steals per game; Bennett has a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game, and senior guard Stephen Ferraro leads the team with 3.8 assists per game.
