Seton Hall Prep basketball team jolts Sparta for first win of season

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep basketball team hosted Sparta and won, 71-45, Monday, Dec. 17, for its first victory of the 2018-19 season to improve to 1-1.

Senior guard Ashton Miller led the Pirates, scoring 29 points with six rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Junior forward Mario Bollo scored 14 points with five rebounds and two blocks.

Senior Geordan Walker and sophomore Josh Hopson each scored nine points and pulled down five rebounds. Junior Mike Curran scored eight points with seven rebounds and seven assists. Junior Colin Flaherty chipped in with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

The Pirates opened up its season participating in the 19th annual Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase at the Thomas G. Dunn Center at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth on Friday, Dec. 14, losing to Immaculate Conception of Montclair, 56-47.

Miller led the Pirates scoring 27 points with four rebounds and five steals. He was selected as the game’s Most Valuable Player from Seton Hall.

Walker scored six points with four rebounds while junor Mike Curran scored five points with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Hopson led the team with eight rebounds.
