Seton Hall Prep basketball team is No. 1 seed in State Tournament; will host quarterfinal game on March 2

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep varsity basketball team, seeded No. 1, will host a quarterfinal round game in the NJSIAA Non-Public “A” North State Tournament game at Tracey Gymnasium on March 2 against the first-round winner between No. 9 seed DePaul and No. 8 seed St. Joseph.

The winner of SHP vs. DePaul/St. Joseph will face the winner of fifth-seeded Delbarton and fourth-seeded St. Peter’s Prep in the semifinals on March 5.

The Pirates went 1-1 this past week to drop their record to 23-2 on the season.

On Feb. 20, top-seeded SHP lost to fifth-seeded Montclair Immaculate 54-45 in the semifinal round of the 72nd Essex County Tournament at West Orange HS. Alex Imegwu led SHP with 17 points, seven rebounds, and three steals while Ashton Miller had 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.

The Pirates traveled to Newark to play Newark Tech in the final regular season game on Feb. 22. SHP won, 63-55. Miller led the team with 19 points, six rebounds and five steals while Imegwu had 16 points and five rebounds, Geordan Walker had 10 points and 10 rebounds; and Jessie Reid III scored seven points with eight assists and four steals.
