WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep bowling team enjoyed a great season.
On January 31 at Hanover Lanes in East Hanover, the Pirates defeated Livingston, 5-2, to capture the Super Essex Conference-Colonial Division title for the first time in the history of the conference. They completed the season with an 89-16 record in the division.
In the Essex County Team Tournament on Monday, Feb. 4 at Eagle Rock Lanes in West Orange, Seton Hall finished in third place. The top 12 individual scores will compete in the Essex County Individual Tournament on Monday, Febuary 11 at Eagle Rock Lanes. Seton Hall Prep has two bowlers who have qualified for this tournament: sophomore Anthony Stirone and senior Luis Morales.
In the Group 3 North Jersey Section 1B Tournament at Lodi Lanes, Seton Hall Prep finished in fourth place.
Following their division-clinching win, senior Nick Diaz said, “We had a mindset since day one to win the division, especially last year when Livingston won the division. Everybody picked up each other during the season.” Senior Tyler Kaufman added, “The hard work we put in all season really paid off. It was a great feeling of accomplishment when we won the division title.” Senior Luis Morales, who won the ECT individual title last year, said, “It feels great. The last three years we finished second to Livingston, but this year we kept it together all season to capture the division title.” Fourth-year head coach Sean Farrell commented on his team’s accomplishment. “I am very satisfied to capture the SEC-Colonial Division title. To see the team come through, is extremely satisfying. I have coached these guys for the past three years and am so proud of them.”
