Seton Hall Prep cross-country runner Dan Gizzo wins SEC-American race; West Orange HS also excels

NEWARK, NJ (updated Thursday Oct. 5, 9:57 a..m.) – The Seton Hall Prep and West Orange High School varsity cross-country teams gave stellar efforts at the Super Essex Conference-American Division Championships held at Branch Brook Park in Newark on Oct. 3.

Dan Gizzo, a senior, captured first place overall to lead SHP. Gizzo ran 16:02.4 to win the race among 67 runners. For the WOHS boys, senior Ebizie Anuamadi finished in 12th place overall in 16:53.5.

In the team standings, SHP finished third and WOHS finished fourth among the 10 teams. Montclair finished first and Columbia was second.

Meanwhile, the WOHS girls’ team finished first overall in the team standings among the nine scoring teams. Alina Chant, a junior, finished sixth overall in 20:20.7 and sophomore Samara Charles was seventh in 20:34 to lead WOHS.
