Seton Hall Prep cross-country team cruises to improve to 5-0

WEST ORANGE, NJ — In the second week of conference racing, the Seton Hall Prep cross-country team cruised to victory over West Orange, 18-38, Newark Academy, 19-40, and Millburn, 16-39.  Led by the trio of senior Colin Schweitzer, 17:08, senior Nolan Orr, 17:08, and junior Kevin Harvey, 17:09, who placed first, second and third and supported by junior Chris Gizzo, seventh, 17:32, and junior Luke Incardona, 10th, 18:04, the team turned in a 17:24 team average.

After a conservative first mile, the leaders opened up a gap in mile two and never relented. The varsity lineup was rounded out by Brian Phillips, 18:22, Ben Ferrara, 18:49, Anthony Bottino, 19:04, Paddy Sheppard, 19:37, Gabe Ferriero, 19:38, and Will Spies, 19:40.

After two weeks of conference competition, the Pirates are 5-0.  Earlier in the afternoon in the Novice 2 miler, nine of the top 20 finishers were SHP harriers, led by an impressive finish by freshmen Russell Webb, 11:56, and TJ Sparno, 12:06, who finished first and second and juniors Mike Lazzari, 12:30, and Rhys Williams, 12:47, who finished fifth and seventh.

The team will resume conference competition Tuesday, Sept. 17, and will compete in the Thompson Park Class Meet on Sept. 21.
