Seton Hall Prep cross-country team finishes 9-0 to clinch first place in SEC-American Division

WEST ORANGE, NJ — In the final week of the Super Essex Conference dual meet season, the Seton Hall Prep cross-country team defeated Verona, 19-42; and Nutley, 18-45, Sept. 24 at Branch Brook Park in Newark to complete an undefeated 9-0 dual meet season and clinched first place in the Super Essex Conference-American Division.

Senior Co-capt. Colin Schweitzer controlled the race up front, finishing comfortably in first in 17:08. Team scoring was rounded out by junior Luke Incardona, third place, 17:49; sophomore Ben Ferrara, sixth place, 18:15; senior Brian Phillips, seventh place, 18:24; and sophomore Anthony Bottino, eighth place, 18:33.

In the Novice 5K, there were many strong performances with eight SHP harriers in the top 20.  They were led by freshman TJ Sparno, 19:49; senior Cristiano Ribeiro, 19:57; sophomore AJ Villaruel, 20:24; senior TJ Martynowicz, 20:37; and sophomore Tyler Delk, 21:14.

The varsity, JV and freshman squads will compete in the SEC Championships on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Branch Brook Park  where they hope to have a strong team showing.
