Seton Hall Prep cross-country team wins Season Opener Invitational at Darlington County Park

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep cross-country team had an outstanding day of racing on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Season Opener Invitational at Darlington County Park in Mahwah.

Undeterred by the unique terrain of Darlington that runs over roads, paths and sand, the team put up impressive performances on all levels.

The varsity dominated its race with the five scorers placing in the top 10, leading to a first-place team finish.

Senior Colin Schweitzer, second place, 16:26, senior Nolan Orr, third, 16:39, junior Kevin Harvey, fourth, 16:40, junior Chris Gizzo, sixth, 16:53 personal record and junior Luke Incardona, eighth, 17:07 personal record, led the charge for the Pirates.

The varsity lineup was rounded out by seniors Will Spies, 18:30, and Dylan Coffin, 19:56.  The team’s 16:45 team average was the fastest on the day among 54 teams and its 41-second compression between the five scorers showed impressive collective strength.

The Pirates’ next invitational will be the Thompson Park Class Meet in Jamesburg on Sept. 21.
