UPDATED: Seton Hall Prep falls to Randolph; then loses to Bergen Catholic in Gordon Cup quarterfinals

The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to Randolph in its last regular-season game on Feb. 10.

Randolph jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period before Seton Hall Prep tied it up when Jack Schneider scored on an assist by Brendan Waivada with :15 left in the first period. Seton Hall took a 2-1 lead on a power-play goal just 2:58 into the second  period by Waivada on assists by Patrick Zincone and Ryan Rodrigues. Randolph tied the score at 2-2 just 1:35 later and took a 3-2 lead with 4:58 left in the period. The Rams added an insurance goal in the third period to make the final 4-2. Seton Hall outshot Randolph 29-16.

The Pirates, seeded No. 6, traveled to the Ice House in Hackensack to take on No. 3 seed Bergen Catholic in the quarterfinal round of the 62nd Gordon Cup Tournament.  SHP lost, 5-3, to move to 9-12-2 on the season. Trailing 1-0 going into the second period, Zincone tied the score at 1-1 with a power play goal on assists by Harrison Rocheville and Aidan D’Urso just 2:07 into the  2nd period. Bergen Catholic scored four goals to take a 5-1 lead when Thomas Klochkov scored just :54 into the third period on an assist by Schneider and with 1:17 left on an assist by Kyle Bishop to make the final 5-3. Seton Hall outshot Bergen Catholic, 30-22. The Pirates will now prepare for the Non-Public state tournament, which will begin next week.
