Seton Hall Prep football players garner All-Area honors; QB Zach Keller named one of three All-Area Offensive Players of Year

SETON HALL PREP – The Seton Hall Prep varsity football team enjoyed a successful 6-3 playoff season under first-year head coach Vito Campanile, sharing the Super Essex Conference-American Division title with Montclair.

The Pirates, who lost to Bergen Catholic in the first round of the Non-Public Group 4 playoffs, were led by several outstanding players.

The following SHP players have earned Worrall Media All-Area honors.

  • Zach Keller, senior quarterback. Keller, who will continue his career at Princeton University, passed for 1,693 yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. He completed 124 of 205 passes (60 percent). Keller also is one of three All-Area Offensive Players of the Year, along with senior running back Craig Merkle and senior quarterback Anthony Condito, both of Nutley High School.
  • Dylan Badger, senior running back. Badger rushed for 254 yards and a team-high eight TDs on 74 carries.
  • Rory Schlageter, tight end. Schlageter had 26 receptions for 428 yards and five TDs.
  • Dwayne Warren, junior wide receiver. Warren had 41 receptions for 619 yards and seven TDs, all team highs.
  • Paul Theobald, junior linebacker. Theobald had 111 tackles with 3 1/2 sacks, one fumble recovery and one caused fumble. He is the All-Area Defensive Player of the Year.
  • Mike Mughetto, junior safety. Mughetto had 47 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception.
  • Matt Jones, junior nose guard. Jones had 32 tackles.
  • Chris Tangreti, senior defensive lineman. Tangreti had 39 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks.
  • James Petrovick, sophomore offensive lineman.
