Seton Hall Prep football team falls to Delbarton in playoffs to end season

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep varsity football team closed out its season on Saturday, Nov. 11, dropping a 42-7 loss to Delbarton in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 4 playoffs at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field.

Delbarton, seeded fifth, led 42-0 when the fourth-seeded Pirates started their last drive of the game on their 20-yard line and drove 80 yards in seven plays with senior quarterback Cameron Carti throwing a 33-yard touchdown pass to sophomore tight end Dominic Busby and junior placekicker Zach Hoban added the extra point.

SHP finished with a 2-8 record. One of the wins was against Delbarton, 37-31, Oct. 7 at Delbarton. It was their first win of the season after losing their first four games. SHP defeated Columbia, 45-6, the following week at the Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field.

Passing:Carti: 16 of 30 attempts, 142 yards, 1 TD, 1 interception.

Rushing: Sophomore running back Kyle Monangai: 15 carries for 74 yards.

Defense: Junior linebacker and West Orange resident Vincent Henrich: 12 tackles, Senior defensive back Anthony Algieri: 11 tackles. Senior safety Jack Agnew: 9 tackles
