The Seton Hall Prep varsity football team traveled to William O. Regan Field on the campus of Delbarton School in Morristown last Saturday, Oct. 13, and lost, 34-17. The loss snapped the Pirates’ four-game winning streak and dropped their record to 4-3.
After Delbarton scored on its first offensive play of the game to take a 7-0 lead, Seton Hall came back to tie the game at 7-7. They drove 75 yards in 13 plays with senior QB Aidan Gilman going in from the 1-yard line and Austin Kuterka adding the extra point with 5:25 left in the first quarter.
Delbarton took a 14-7 lead after a fumble return for a touchdown of 88 yards.
On the ensuing kickoff, Seton Hall drove 82 yards in six plays with Gilman scoring from the 1-yard line again and Kuterka’s extra point tied the game at 14-14 with 6:48 left in the second quarter. The big play in that drive was a 72-yard run by Gilman.
On the opening kickoff of the second half, Matt Colantuono caused a Delbarton fumble and Jacob Maurice recovered the ball for Seton Hall on the Delbarton 31-yard line. Seven plays later, Kuterka kicked a 27-yard field goal to give Seton Hall a 17-14 lead with 8:21 left in the third quarter.
Delbarton scored a touchdown later in the quarter to take a 21-17 lead after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Delbarton added a touchdown and two field goals to make the final 34-17.

Next game: SHP will travel to Montvale to take on St. Joseph Regional (5-2) on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m.
