Seton Hall Prep football team to host Delbarton in the state playoffs

 

WEST ORANGE, NJ – After starting 0-4, the Seton Hall Prep varsity football team defeated Delbarton, 37-31, for its first win of the season Oct. 7.

The Pirates will face Delbarton again, this time in the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 4 state playoffs. SHP, seeded fourth, will host fifth-seeded Delbarton in the quarterfinal round this Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field.  The winner will face the winner between top-seeded Bergen Catholic and eighth-seeded St. Augustine Prep in the semifinals.

The Pirates closed out their regular season, dropping a 28-7 decision to Bergen Catholic on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Nov. 4, at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field. It was third matchup between head coaching Campanile brothers – Vito Campanile of SHP and Nunzio Campanile of Bergen Catholic.

BC scored a touchdown in the first and second quarter to take a 14-0 lead into the halftime locker room. They scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter to increase their lead to 28-0 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, with 2:05 left, SHP quarterback Cameron Carti hit Dominic Busby on a crossing pattern. Busby raced down the left sideline for the touchdown and Zach Hoban added the extra point to make the final score 28-7.
