Seton Hall Prep hockey team moves to 6-4-2 record

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team went 1-1 last week to improve its record to 6-4-2 on the season.

On Wednesday, Jan. 18, the Pirates lost to Bergen Catholic 4-2 at the Ice House in Hackensack. After falling behind 4-0, senior forward Alex Kuhtik scored on assists by sophomore forward Aidan D’Urso and junior defenseman Ben Colucci with 3:19 left in the third period and D’Urso closed out the scoring with :02 left on an assist by senior forward Sal Betro.

On Friday, Jan. 10, the Pirates traveled to the Ice Land Skating Center in Hamilton Township to take on The Hun School. SHP won 7-6. The Pirates jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first period. Freshman forward Dale Campbell scored on an assist from senior defenseman Tim O’Connell, junior forward Lucas Confalonieri scored with an assist from freshman forward Thomas Klochlov and senior defenseman Kyle Bishop, Kuhtik scored on assists from sophomore forward Patrick Zincone and senior forward Brady Callahan, and Kuhtik scored again from Zincone.

In the second period, Hun outscored the Pirates 3-1 to cut the lead to 5-4. Senior forward Daniel Sieman scored with 1:31 left in the second period on assists from Callahan and junior defenseman Sam Rojas.

The Pirates extended their lead to 7-4 when Zincone scored on an assist by junior forward Brendan Waivada and senior forward Will Robinson scored the game-winner on assists by Sieman and senior forward Jack Schneider with 7:48 left before Hun scored two goals to make the final 7-6.
