WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep hockey team fought to a 3-3 tie with St. Peter’s Prep at RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark on Monday afternoon, Dec. 11, in its only scheduled game last week. SHP moved to a 3-2-2 record.
After a scoreless first period, St. Peter’s scored two goals in the first 2:35 of the second period to take a 2-0 lead.
SHP cut the lead to 2-1 when Stephen Buck scored on an assist by John O’Hern for his sixth goal. The assist was O’Hern’s eighth of the season. The power-play goal was scored with 6:30 left in the second period.
St. Peter’s added a goal before O’Hern scored an unassisted power-play goal with 1;35 left to make the score 3-2. It was O’Hern’s first goal of the season. In the third period, SHP dominating play and tied the score with 5:57 left when Phil Feinberg scored on a rebound of a JP Foley shot for his fourth goal of the year. The Pirates outshot St. Peter’s, 37-29.
