Seton Hall Prep hockey team skates to 5-5 with Portledge in home opener

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team opened up its home schedule at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange on Wednesday, Dec. 5, and played Portledg, Locust Valley, N.Y. to a 5-5 tie. Their record is 0-1-1 on the season.

Alex Kuhtik opened the scoring for the Pirates just 1:11 into the match on an assist by Tim O’Connell. After Portledge tied the score, SHP retook the lead with 5:24 left when Kyle Bishop scored an unassisted goal.

In the second period, each team scored three goals as the Pirates led 5-4 after two periods.

Portledge scored to make it 2-2 before Harrison Rocheville gave Seton Hall a 3-2 lead with 14:09 left in the second period. Portledge scored two consecutive goals to take a 4-3 lead with 6:37 left. Aidan D’Urso scored to tie the match at 3-3 on assists by Jack Underwood and O’Connell before the Pirates took the lead on on Kuthik’s goal on an assist from Sal Micciche with 1:14 left. In the third period, Portledge tied the score with 4:39 left.
