WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team won its only match of the week, defeating Portledge, 3-1, at Codey Arena in West Orange. Stephen Buck opened the scoring for SHP just :10 into the match on assists by Gavin Angulo and Thomas Colucci. Buck scored his second goal of the match with 3:58 left in the opening period on an assist by Angulo. Portledge cut the lead to 2-1 just :45 later. In the second period, Jake Sandomeno scored an unassisted goal with 6:47 left.
SHP outshot Portledge 20-16 and Anthony Curuso had 15 saves. SHP will play their Gordon Cup quarterfinal round match at the Jersey Shore Ice Arena in Wall Twp. at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12.
