Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team falls in opener

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep varsity ice hockey team, under the direction of second-year head coach Mike Atkinson, opened the season with an 8-0 loss to Don Bosco Prep at the Ice Vault in Wayne on Saturday night, Nov. 26.

The game was 0-0 after the first period behind the great goaltending of senior Jack McConeghy and the defense led by seniors PJ Murphy, Jack Nienstendt, and Thomas Freda, and junior Jake Sandomeno. Don Bosco scored three goals in the second period and five goals in the third period as they outshot SHP, 34-24, for the game. SHP had its home opener against Princeton Day School on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Richard J. Codey Arena.
