Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team falls to Delbarton in Gordon Cup quarterfinals; gears up for Non-Public Tourney

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team  lost to Delbarton, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the 61st Gordon Cup Tournament at Aspen Ice in Randolph, Feb. 11.

Following the game, Delbarton head coach Bruce Shatel said, “Seton Hall did a good job today. They came out with a lot of energy in the first period and created some turnovers that led to scoring opportunities. We were fortunate that our goalie stood on his head and kept them off the scoreboard with some great saves.”

SHP head coach Mike Atkinson said, “I thought our compete level was very strong, especially compared to the last time we played them. I was very proud of our team today.”

Senior forward Thomas Colucci added, “I think we’re a completely different team than we were a couple of months ago. We were a lot more intense today and I think we put up a good fight.”

The Pirates dropped to 13-8-3 as they will play St. John Vianney on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange in the Round of 16 in the NJSIAA/New Jersey Devils Non-Public Ice Hockey Tournament at 4 p.m.
