Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team falls to Princeton Day; beats Bergen Catholic

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team lost to Princeton Day School and defeated Bergen Catholic.

The Pirates hosted Princeton Day School at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange and lost 5-1 on Nov. 30. Trailing 2-0, SHP’s John Dittemer scored a power-play goal on an assist by PJ Murphy with 6:10 left in the second period to make it 2-1. Princeton Day scored two goals later in the period and one goal in the third period.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, SHP traveled to the Ice Vault in Wayne and broke a two-game losing streak with a 6-2 win over Bergen Catholic.

SHP took a 1-0 in the first period with 2:05 left when John O’Hern scored on assists by Stephen Buck and Jake Sandomeno. After Bergen Catholic scored early in the second period to tie the score at 1-1, Buck scored with 12:31 left on assists by Thomas Colucci and JP Foley. Murphy scored a power-play goal on assists by Jack Nienstedt and O’Hern with 12:00 left to make it 3-1. Bergen Catholic cut the lead to 3-2 later in the second period. In the third period, Buck scored his second goal on an assist by O’Hern. Buck scored his third goal of the game on an assist by Colucci. Colucci scored an unassisted goal to make the final 6-2. SHP outshot Bergen Catholic 32-27. Jack McConeghy had 25 saves for the Pirates.
