Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team gives good efforts; Thomas Colucci gains 100th career point

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team went 0-1-1 last week to drop its record to 10-6-2 on the season.

On Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, the Pirates boarded the bus for the trip to the Beaver Dam Winter Club in Locust Valley, N.Y. to take on Portledge. They dropped a tough decision, 7-5. Trailing 2-0 late in the first period, Thomas Colucci scored two goals, the first assisted by Aidan D’Urso and the second assisted by D’Urso and James Gabriel with just :45 left to tie the game at 2-2.

Trailing 3-2 in the second period, D’Urso scored an unassisted goal to tie the score at 3-3. With 3:42 left, Colucci scored his third goal of the game on an assist by Tyler Fogu to give the Pirates a 4-3 lead. That point was Colucci’s 100th of his outstanding career at Seton Hall Prep.

In the third period, Portledge scored four goals while Alex Kuhtik scored on assists by Brendan Waivada and Jack Underwood.

On Friday, Jan. 18, the Pirates traveled to the Ice House in Hackensack to play Bergen Catholic. Trailing 2-0 in the third period, Seton Hall scored two goals and played to a 2-2 tie. With 11:47 left, Patrick Zincone scored on an assist by Anthony Martine. Then :22 later, Ryan Kemp scored on assisted by Colucci and Phil Feinberg.
