Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team moves to 10-7-4 record

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall Prep ice hockey team went 1-1 last week to raise its record to 10-7-4.

On Monday, Jan. 29, the Pirates hosted St. Peter’s Prep in their last Gordon Conference match and defeated them, 4-1. Trailing 1-0 after the first period, SHP tied the match at 1-1 when John Farrell scored with 7:14 left in the second period on an assist by Jake Sandomeno. They took a 2-1 lead when Sandomeno scored an unassisted power-play goal with 3:53 left. In the third period, they scored two more goals to make the score 4-1. Stephen Buck scored on assists by John O’Hern and Timothy O’Connell just 1:55 into the period and Gavin Angulo scored on assists by Sandomeno and Devon Dobres with 5:31 left. John Profaci had 14 saves as SHP outshot St. Peter’s Prep 47-15.

On Friday, Feb. 2, they hosted Ridge High School and played to a 2-2 draw. Buck opened the scoring 2:48 into the second period with a power-play goal on an assist by O’Connell. Ridge scored two goals in the third period, but SHP tied the score with :26.3 seconds when O’Hern scored off an assist by Harrison Rocheville. SHP will now prepare for the Gordon Cup, which will be seeded on Tuesday morning, Feb. 6, at Codey Arena.
