Seton Hall Prep lacrosse team will vie for four-peat ECT title

WEST ORANGE – Brian Tevlin scored two goals and had one assist and Sean Leahey had one goal to lead the top-seeded and three-time defending champion Seton Hall Prep varsity lacrosse team to an 8-5 win over fourth-seeded Montclair Kimberley Academy in the semifinals of the Essex County Tournament on May 5 at Verducci Field at SHP.

Jack Gorelick, Sean Quinn, Jack Sarson, and Griffin Westlin each had a goal and Jack Rutter had three assists for the Pirates, who improved to a 10-4 record. Colin Kirst made 14 saves.

SHP will face sixth-seeded Montclair in the ECT final at Nutley High School’s Park Oval at approximately 4:30 p.m., which follows the ECT girls’ final between Glen Ridge HS and Verona HS at 2:30 p.m.

Montclair defeated seventh-seeded Millburn, 9-7, in the other semifinal for its third straight win to move to a 4-10 record.
